Companions

Companions share a home with residents who are recovering from mental illness. Companions make a real difference in the lives of the residents by ...

  • sharing meals and daily chores,
  • engaging in conversation,
  • sharing House activities,
  • working together to create a community in which those living with mental illness at Plymouth House feel safe and cared for.

 

The Plymouth House of Healing Companions have:

  • a wonderful diversity of skills, gifts and life experiences
  • range in age from 21 to the mid 70’s and
  • come from as close as Seattle and as far away as Europe

 

Each has come with many questions about what this experience would be like and left feeling that it had been a very significant time in their life.

 

Companions spend a year of service living in Seattle at Plymouth House of Healing. They bring healing and hope to residents living with mental illness.

 

Companions receive room and board, health insurance, ongoing training and $350 a month. Combining life at the house with a part time job or going to school is encouraged.
